The Purkey Wedding

I had such a blast shooting Danielle and Chris's wedding! They had their ceremony and reception at the Wyldewood Cellars Winery in Mulvane. Since the wedding took place in January, it was too cold for grape vines. Danielle and Chris toughed out the cold and we got some great shots outdoors with some of the Winery's landscaping.

Trying Out A New Lens

I just purchased the 50mm f/1.4 canon lens and I think I'm in love! This lens will be a great addition to my collection of lenses for weddings and portraits. I can not tell you enough how excited I am to use it this Saturday for a wedding event! I'm sure I will have lots to share!

When I decided to by a prime lens I went back and forth many times trying to figure out how much I should spend and what lens would be the best for the buck! Initially I wanted the L series 50mm f/1.2 but couldn't get myself to spend over $1,500 for it. I love my other L lens and totally think it's worth the money I spent on it, but when I could get another 50mm lens for way less... I had to start comparing reviews. Really, the f/1.4 and f/1.2 don't have a lot of difference other then the f/1.2 being extremely well built with better glass. When it comes down to sharpness and how well they shoot in low light, I've read that both are very compatible. I guess it all comes down to what your willing to spend, but in my case, I saved a lot of money and still get the great quality. However, you do need to know what you are doing with your camera settings to take advantage of this lenses great features.

Here are a couple practice snap shots I took of my two sweet puppies! This is the only one I was able to take of Ratchet before he hid under the table. For some reason both my dogs are camera shy.

The Branizor Wedding

We shot Gina and Tyson's wedding on January 1st 2011... a perfect start for a new year! Heather and I really enjoyed photographing this couple! They were so genuine with each other, it made our time there so worth it as we got some great shots of the sweet moments between the two.

I finally had the chance to meet my new little niece Rilyn who is living in Florida! She is so precious! Damon and I got to see hands on what it would be like to have a baby. I can't wait to see her in a few months... and by then she will be so much bigger! Expect to see more shots of Rilyn in the near future!

The Waddell Wedding

This winter wonderland wedding was the perfect one to end the year! Anna and Kenny were fabulous as were their family and friends. We had such a great time photographing their special day at the 20th Century Center down town.

This was my first wedding at St. Vincent De Paul in Andover. What a beautiful church!! We loved snapping shots of the Ville and capturing that elegant look of Italy! Lauren was just absolutely stunning and we were able to capture some really precious moments shared between her and Kyle. Wow... I could not get over Holly's shoes! We had to of taken over 50 different shots of just the shoes... they were amazing!!! This kind of stuff excites me though, lol! I love my classy brides who know how to roll in style and Holly had that down! We made sure to get plenty of pictures of her Coco Chanel items. When photographing 2 year olds, I find it best to just let them play and have fun! They just won't last if you try and pose them let alone sit still. With Draven we decided on the park. He just had a good ol time playing on the playground equipment, chasing geese and exploring.

So many brides use family members or friends with low end digital cameras to film their weddings. The only problem is... you get a long video with no editing that makes your wedding look long and boring, when it was really the best time of your lives! This is where we come in! Your video footage is cut into different clips from the day and mixed with the audio and music to make it more fast past and interesting in High Definition. This is what we call Cinematic! It's like watching a movie from the theater rather then a family video you record yourself.

Bibi and Wade's wedding was absolutely gorgeous! The ceremony was held at St. Thomas Aquinas and the reception took place down town at the Century Center. The wedding party was a fun bunch and we had a lot of laughs! It was a hot day in June walking around old town for pictures, but we got some really great shots and the guys were such troopers in their tuxedos. What a fun couple these two were! We did half the session around some art studios and the other half at the boat house. We even used some fresh rose petals from my garden as a prop! I'm so excited for Hillary and Matt's wedding next year!!!

I am so pleased with how this session turned out! Sarah and Casey were so much fun and willing to do anything! I always love to stumble upon new areas down town. My new find this time was a blue school bus with flames painted on the side. What a fun prop!!! :)

I had so much fun with this couple. I headed out to the Sunnydale farm in Valley Center to capture these two love birds in the place where they will be spending a lot of time together! If you ever need beautiful flowers... this is the place to get them! They even surprised me with some lovely peonies to take home! :)
